About Dr. Cagle

I’m Tiff Cagle, MD, CSC, NBC-HWC (she/they/Dr.), a board-certified family medicine physician, AASECT-certified sex counselor, and board-certified health and wellness coach from Durham, North Carolina. Like many others, I grew up in a culture where conversations about sex were rare and often centered around shame. Through challenging the sex-negative attitudes I had been taught, I developed a passion for helping others feel empowered to embrace their authentic self.

I chose to specialize in family medicine because of my desire to provide care through the lens of each person’s mind, body, relationships, and community. After years of traditional medical practice, I’m now delighted to bring this holistic approach to my work in sexual health. I received my medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, where I first discovered my passion for decreasing stigma around sex while providing HIV testing and counseling. I went on to complete my residency training at Duke University Hospital with a concentration in Law, Ethics, and Health Policy, and I now hold a consulting position in Duke’s Department of Community and Family Medicine providing resident lectures and mentorship.
